Introducing Your Hosts...
My love for filmmaking started from an editing class I took in high school where I would often edit short films in iMovie for my skater friends. After high school, I focused on pursuing my education and career in sports medicine and exercise science but would still edit slideshows for family & friends here and there. Fast forward to 2018; I was at home, researching travel tips and planning my trip to India when I came across a short film on YouTube about Sadhu life in India. I rewatched this short film over and over again, studying every shot & frame...I was obsessed. This was the catalyst moment in my life, I had this surge of inspiration to create. By the end of 2019, I bought my first camera, said goodbye to my sports medicine career, enrolled into the film program at the University of Hawai'i and the rest is history. Since then, my path as a filmmaker has led me to small and large scale productions such as American Idol, Cooking Hawaiian Style, local commercials, events, music videos, weddings, directing lifestyle content and the creation of STUDIO RISE. From my skill set, a personal favorite is color theory and shooting with artificial light in low-light settings. My goals in life are to travel the world, document and share life stories through film and most importantly, support other aspiring filmmakers along their creative journey.

All my life, I thought I wanted to be a lawyer. Why? I'm not sure...but I still ended up going to college for 4 years in Los Angeles, CA & received a BA in Political Science (yay...). Don't get me wrong, I'm so grateful for that experience and everything I learned during that time, but I realized that I wasn't pursuing this career for me, but for the approval of those around me. So I came back home to Hawai'i to figure things out and I'm so glad I did because my life has forever changed for the better in so many ways. In June of 2021, my photography journey "officially" started! I was working a full-time corporate desk job and had a used DSLR camera sitting on a shelf at home. My friend had asked me to take her cousin's grad photos and I flat out said no because I had no idea what I was doing. Eventually, I agreed and that's when everything changed for me. I officially fell in love with photography & the whole process that comes with it. From making people feel comfortable in front of the camera to editing techniques - I was eager to grow my skills and see where I could go with it. When I started to take photography seriously and learned as much as I could through workshops, styled shoots, and mentorships, I was able to step away from my full-time job in December of 2021 and become a full-time entrepreneur & photographer! Within my first full year of business, I shot over 40 weddings & elopements, captured countless moments for couples, families and individuals, hosted styled shoots + a Content Retreat to Utah, and generated a 6 figure income for the first time ever in my life. My goal in this workshop is to share absolutely EVERYTHING I've learned with YOU! I'm holding nothing back š I want to see you succeed, however that may look for you!

The āBreakthrough Content Retreatā went above & beyond anything I could have expected. I had to step out of my comfort zone in so many different ways. Yes my business benefited from attendinging but there was a lot of personal growth involved as well. I knew I was going to get some amazing content but what I didnāt know is that Iād be leaving with a new sense of self worth. It truly was like a breakthrough! I can't stress how supported and empowered I felt as I was surrounded by so many other amazing people who were not only great photographers, but also hard working entrepreneurs and caring friends. I constantly got hyped by the other attendees and Megan and my creative energy was recharged. This is not to mention I took some of the best portrait photos of my life, had so much amazing "mainland" food and gained the knowledge to truly uplevel my photography business. I loved the retreat so much! My favorite part was being able to share so much knowledge with different creatives, I think no matter where we are in our career we all had such important information to share with each other and were able to learn together. I would 10000% recommend this to every creative no matter if they are starting out, or 10 years in. Itās such a fun experience and after the retreat youāll feel full of knowledge and ready to take on everything .

The highlights from this retreat were all the laughs shared and bonds created. It was so nice to sit with other photographers and edit and talk and learn from one another. My favorite styled shoot was the salt flats because it was something unique to the location and something we can't recreate in Hawai'i. 100% it was worth every penny! Wonderfully planned sessions, intimate enough that we all got to shoot and share posing ideas but full enough that we could take creative breaks and get inspiration from others.

Any beginner creative (videographer and/or photographer)! If you just purchased your very first camera and are confused on where to even start, then this workshop is for YOU! OR If you're somewhat experienced in using your gear but wanting to level up your skills and get a taste of the wedding industry, then this workshop is for YOU!

Workshop tickets are all-inclusive! In other words, your ticket covers you for both days of the workshop and trust us, YOU WON'T WANT TO MISS A THING! From the highly detailed education to the jaw-dropping styled shoots, it's going to launch you into the next level of your photography journey. If you're still unable to attend one of the days, no problem! But currently, tickets include both days and it's at the discretion of the attendee if they'd like to skip a day even if their ticket allows access to both. Also, the styled shoots are only reserved for those attending the workshop. Prorated ticket costs for just the styled shoot portions are not available at this time. But we'll be sure to announce availability if there's anything left!
Yes! It will be a hands-on workshop and we'll be walking you through basic camera settings. But if you don't have a camera yet, no problem. Camera body & lens rentals are available from the ProCamera Hawaii store in Aiea! Checkout their website & store for more information.
